Kyoto’s Spring: A World of Cherry Blossoms 🌸🌞

#cherryblossom25
It’s that time of year again – cherry blossom season! After visiting Kyoto twice during the sakura bloom, I’m excited to share some of the most beautiful cherry blossom spots in the city! 🌸🌿

1. Daigoji Temple (醍醐寺) 🏯🌸
Best spot for cherry blossoms during the season! 🌸
With over 1500 cherry trees within the temple grounds, you’re greeted by towering sakura trees as soon as you enter. The weeping cherries in the Rinpokan Garden are absolutely mesmerizing, leading you all the way to the magnificent Five-story Pagoda. The pink blooms here are absolutely stunning! 🌸💖

2. Kiyomizu-dera (清水寺) 🏯🌸
A must-visit for both sakura and autumn leaf viewing! 🍁
The iconic Kiyomizu Stage, built on stilts, offers breathtaking views and is a national treasure. It’s the perfect spot for those who want to experience Kyoto’s natural beauty alongside its architectural wonders. 🌸🌞

3. Kodaiji Temple (高台寺) 🏯🌸
A quiet and peaceful retreat, especially the dry landscape garden. 🪴
There’s a massive weeping cherry tree here, but if you’re short on time, this one can be skipped. It’s a lovely place if you want a more serene sakura experience. 🌸🧘♀️

4. Maruyama Park (円山公园) 🌸
Located east of Yasaka Shrine, you’ll find the Sakura Queen standing tall for 200 years. 🌸👑
At night, it sways elegantly under the moonlight, giving off a mystical, almost ethereal vibe! 🌙✨

5. Gion Shirakawa (祇园白川) 🌸
The cherry blossom path along Shirakawa in Gion is magical at night when it’s lit up for the sakura festival.
Just 200 meters long, but it’s perfect for those quiet, romantic moments by the river, with the sakura reflecting beautifully on the water. 🌸🌊💫

6. Heian Shrine (平安神宫) 🏯🌸
At the entrance, there’s a giant cherry tree in full bloom, drawing crowds for a perfect photo op. 📸
Inside the serene garden, you’ll see deep pink yae sakura (double-flowered cherry blossoms) and weeping cherries in full competition for your attention, creating a watercolor-esque scene. 🌸💖
