The location is not bad, but it's somewhat ambiguous. It takes about 8 minutes by city bus (Route 4) from Kyoto Station. The nearest subway station, Gojo Station, is about a 10-minute walk away.
Although the hotel is situated at a major intersection, it is slightly removed from tourist attractions, with cars speeding by. It’s about an 8-minute walk to Nishi Honganji Temple, and the Tokyu Hotel where I stayed last year is located just across the pedestrian bridge.
The hotel offers free bicycle rental service from 7 AM to midnight. However, the bicycles are regular ones, not electric. I checked in around 7 PM and was assigned a room on the 3rd floor with a wall view. Given the ultra-low price, I accepted the room key without complaint.
I’ve stayed at Chisun Hotel chain properties in Niigata, Tokyo, Yamaguchi, and Nagano before. The ones with 'Grand' in their name had slightly better facilities, while this was my first time staying at a 'Standard' property.
To compare with the Ibis chain, 'Ibis Budget' feels similar to 'Standard,' 'Ibis' is akin to 'Chisun,' and 'Ibis Styles' resembles 'Grand.' Except for the wall view, the room was spacious, and while the bathroom was small, it was a typical clean plastic box-style bathroom.
Breakfast starts at 6:30 AM and is closer to a free breakfast with a limited variety. I chose this hotel to reduce accommodation costs after spending 60,000 yen on my 9th afternoon tea session, so I have no complaints. Thank you.
