teamLab has exciting news—they're launching a new permanent immersive art museum called "teamLab Biovortex Kyoto" near Kyoto Station in October 2025! Combining classic works, new creations, and artworks debuting in Japan for the first time, visitors can fully immerse themselves in interactive art experiences. The museum is located in the area bordered by Hachijo-dori to Kujo-dori, the Kamo River, and Takeda Street, as part of the urban development project southeast of Kyoto Station—just a 10-minute walk from the station, making it super convenient!
The new venue centers around the concept of "Biovortex," blending "Bio (life)" and "Vortex" to symbolize the "Vortex of Life." It aims to create a dynamic space where perception, environment, and physical interaction merge. The artworks challenge traditional material boundaries, inviting visitors to "immerse themselves completely" in the experience. Alongside classic pieces, the museum will feature new creations and Japan-exclusive debuts, including "Massless Amorphous Sculpture" (floating foam as "massless sculptures"), "Massless Suns and Dark Suns" (a "cognitive sculpture" made of countless glowing spheres), "Morphing Continuum" (a cosmic-scale dynamic aggregation of floating light points), and "Traces of Life" (where participants generate glowing footprints). Additionally, works like "The Eternal Universe of Words" and "Forest of Resonating Lamps," previously seen in special exhibitions or now-closed venues, will make a return. Kyoto just got another must-visit destination!
