The Liu Family Branch Ancestral Hall, located on the east side of Guiyang Preschool Normal School, covers an area of nearly 850 square meters. It is the ancestral hall of Liu Chunlin, a famous Guizhou scholar. It was built in March of the sixth year of the Republic of China ( 1917 ) and was built by Liu Chunlin's nephew in accordance with Liu Chunlin's will.
The Liu Clan Branch Ancestral Hall faces south and forms an enclosed quadrangle consisting of the main gate, the Hall of Worship, a theater, two side rooms, and east and west wing rooms. The Hall of Worship is a five-bay timber frame building with a gabled roof and a front veranda. The roof was originally covered with green tubular tiles, but has now been replaced with small green tiles. A relief gray sculpture of a celestial palace is carved in the center of the ridge, with circling dragons carved into the upper corners.
In addition to flowers and plants, the reliefs also include geometric patterns such as hexagonal stars. On both sides of the inscription " Liu's Branch Ancestral Hall " are sculpted civil officials and military generals. The side door lintels are " Guang Qian " and " Yu Hou " respectively, and there is a round window on each lintel. The entire ancestral hall gate is finely crafted and gorgeous, and its appearance clearly incorporates Western architectural style.
