One of Kyoto's most iconic tourist destinations,
it's a must-see for anyone visiting Kyoto.

Kinkaku-ji Temple, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and Fushimi Inari Shrine
are three must-sees.

While its official name is Rokuon-ji Temple,
it's commonly referred to as Kinkaku-ji Temple due to its famous reliquary hall, the "King's Pavilion."

Originally, this site was the villa of Saionji Kintsune, a high-ranking nobleman.
It was inherited by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, and renovated into his own villa.

After his death, it was converted into a temple according to his will.

The Golden Pavilion was rebuilt after being completely destroyed in 1950, and is said to undergo periodic renovations.

As a major tourist attraction in Kyoto,
I highly recommend visiting the Golden Pavilion at least once.
