Kyoto Food Finds🍣 - Imomatsu izakaya

Right down in the heart of Kiyamachi (Pontocho / Kawaramachi area), Imomatsu (いも松) is a lively izakaya with a great mix of food, drinks, and vibe. It’s the kind of place you go with friends to eat, drink, laugh, and stay late.

What they serve / special things:
• They have an all-you-can-eat & drink (tabe nomi) course — lots of variety (100+ dishes) including sashimi, tempura, grilled items, hot pots, and more.
• A good selection of drinks: sake, shochu, cocktails, highballs, soft drinks.
• The atmosphere is casual but fun — modern meets traditional, dim lights, lots of energy especially later in the evening.

Location & access:
• Address: 183 Zaimokucho, Higashikiyamachi Sanjo Sagaru, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto 604-8017 (Basement of the Dai-6 Kanko Building)
• Nearest stations: Hankyu Kawaramachi (~7 min walk) or Keihan Sanjo (~4 min to their “Kitabekkan” branch)

Opening hours & price:
• Evening / late night hours: typically from ~6:00–18:00 until as late as 5:00 AM on weekends / before holidays, depending on branch.
• Price: Dinner / buffet style is around ¥3,000-¥5,000 depending on the plan (all-you-can-eat, drinks, etc.)

⚠️ Tips Before You Go
• Reserve if you can, especially on weekends. It gets busy, and wait times can build up.
• Go with a group if possible — more variety in ordering = better sample of the menu.
• Try to arrive early (just after opening) to avoid the rush.
• If you’re not huge on drinking, there are plenty of food-only options and lighter drink options too.

✔️ What Stands Out / Why Go
• Awesome value for what you get: food variety + drinks + lively izakaya vibe without being overly touristy.
• Great location: you can make a whole night of it (meandering along Kiyamachi, eating, maybe bar-hopping).
• Ideal for nights when you want to relax, share many dishes, try something different, and enjoy local Japanese izakaya culture.
