📍 Maruyama Park (Wonsan Park) Visit Review

Located near Kyoto's Gion district, Maruyama Park is Kyoto's oldest park and a renowned springtime cherry blossom spot. Although cherry blossom season was already over when I visited, the garden, with its lush trees, tranquil pond, and stone bridges, was impressive. The park itself was surprisingly spacious, with natural paths making it easy to stroll. I saw more locals quietly strolling or relaxing than tourists. 🌿

A large weeping cherry tree stands in the center of the park, known as the "symbol of Maruyama Park." The scenery changes dramatically with the seasons, allowing visitors to experience a different atmosphere each season. The proximity of Yasaka Shrine and Gion Street made it a great place to visit together. There are also many cafes and restaurants within walking distance, making it a convenient addition to any sightseeing itinerary. 🌸☕

Despite being free of charge, the park is well-maintained and offers a unique Japanese garden aesthetic. This is a great place to stop by for a break from sightseeing, and is recommended for those who want to quietly enjoy nature in the city. 🪴

📍Address: 473 Enyama-cho, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture
🕓Hours: Open year-round (night illumination only during cherry blossom season)
