Visit La Digue's Stunning Beach

If you're visiting the island of La Digue in Seychelles, a trip to this marvelous beach is necessary. The beach's entrance lies within L’Union Estate, a nature reserve on the island's west coast. Entry costs 150 Seychelles Rupees (about £8) and includes a numbered wristband as proof of payment. Walk a few more meters, and you'll emerge through the trees onto this stunning beach with soft white sand. The shoreline extends about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and, depending on the tide, may be divided by immense, ancient-looking granite boulders, a prominent feature here. The clear turquoise waters allow easy spotting of fish swimming nearby. You could also explore further offshore in small glass-bottomed dinghies, possibly spotting a passing turtle. When the tide is high, you might not get around the boulders, but there’s a path through the vegetation just behind the beach that follows the entire stretch. Along this path, there are a few spots to relax and grab refreshments from small stalls, or even do some shopping. The beach is casual, so bring your own towels and settle down wherever you please. Whether you have much time or specific plans, you'll enjoy this highly photogenic tropical paradise.
