The Glow of Faith at Night.
Every year during the end of Buddhist Lent, Lamphun province lights up with the vibrant glow of the 'Lanterns of a Hundred Thousand Lights' 💫
This traditional festival is held by the people of Lamphun as an offering of Buddhist worship to the Phra That Hariphunchai stupa, symbolizing the profound faith of the northern Thai people.
As soon as you step into the grounds of Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, the atmosphere transforms as if entering a world illuminated by tens of thousands of lights. Colorful lanterns are hung in rows from the entrance to the temple courtyard. In some areas, the lights reflect on the ground, creating a dreamlike scene 🌈
Each lantern is not only beautiful but also carries deep personal meaning. Some people write their names, while others inscribe their wishes on the lanterns, praying for a life as bright and prosperous as the glowing lanterns at night 🕯️
Nighttime is when Lamphun is at its most enchanting. The lantern lights reflecting off the golden stupa of Wat Phra That create an atmosphere of serenity and warmth. For photography enthusiasts, this place is a 'content creator's paradise,' as every corner offers breathtakingly picturesque views 📸
This event is held annually from mid-October to early November. Besides admiring the beauty of the lanterns, visitors can also experience the authentic lifestyle of Lamphun locals, including traditional markets, local cuisine, and the soft melodies of Lanna music playing in the background 🎶
If you ever get the chance, come and see it for yourself. You'll understand why Lamphun feels so warm and welcoming that you'll want to return year after year 💛
