Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Woramahawihan is a first-class royal temple, Woramahawihan type, located in the heart of Lamphun City, Lamphun Province. It is considered one of the oldest and most sacred temples in the North. It has a history of more than 1,300 years and is the spiritual center of the people of Lamphun and Lanna.

🕰 History
This temple was built in 1651 by King Athitayarat, the 33rd king of Hariphunchai, who was the dynasty that succeeded Queen Chamadevi, the first king of Hariphunchai City. Originally, this area was the palace of King Athitayarat. Later, it was offered as a temple for use in Buddhism. And there were many renovations during the reigns of the Lanna kings, such as Phraya Mangrai and King Tilokarat.

🛕 Architectural Highlights
• Phra Borommathat Hariphunchai: A Sri Lankan-style pagoda covered in gold, approximately 46 meters high. Inside, there are relics of the Lord Buddha, including the crown relic, the sternum relic, the finger relic, and a bowl full of minor relics.  
• Khong Gate and Pair of Lions: The eastern entrance has a Khong Gate with a pair of lions standing with their mouths open, decorated with royal costumes, following the ancient belief that lions were used to guard the temple. 
• Ho Trai and Ho Bell: The Ho Trai is a wooden building raised from the ground, used to store the Tripitaka. The Bell Tower has a large bell. Used to tell time and religious activities

🌟 Religious and cultural significance
• Birth year pagoda: Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is the pagoda for those born in the year of the Rooster (Chicken) according to the beliefs of the Lanna people. 
• Important festivals:
• Worship and bathing of the pagoda: Held on the full moon day of the 6th month (Visakha Bucha Day) of every year.
• Hundred Thousand Lanterns Festival: Held during Loi Krathong Day, with colorful Lanna lanterns decorated throughout the temple.
