Discover a Hidden Gem in Lanzhou: The Hyatt Regency Lanzhou

A Detailed Review: The Perfect Choice for Family Travel

During my recent trip to Lanzhou with my kids, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Lanzhou and had an amazing experience that I highly recommend!

💰 Average Spend: Excellent value for money. If you book in advance during the off-season, a river-view king room costs around CNY 500, and adding two breakfasts brings the total to about CNY 700. Staying at a Hyatt for just over CNY 300 per person is hard to find in other cities. Suites are more expensive, but they are larger and offer better views, and the prices are very attractive during the off-season.

🏘️ Room Type/Layout: The rooms are well-designed, with the river-view king room offering a spacious area of over 40 square meters. The bathrooms have a separate shower and toilet, as well as a bathtub, making them convenient, clean, and tidy. The river-view suites are even more impressive, with an estimated area of 100 square meters. The corner room design provides a wider view, allowing you to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Yellow River.

🛌 Amenities/Facilities: The facilities are complete, and the swimming and fitness center on the 6th floor is large, making it the largest hotel gym I have ever stayed at, perfect for professional workouts. Next to the restaurant is a ball pit that kids love. Although it is not very big, it is enough to keep them entertained for half a day. The Regency Club Lounge offers complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day, and light meals are served from 17:30 to 19:30. It is a great place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the river view. However, the TV screen mirroring function is lacking. Apple phones or tablets cannot be directly mirrored, and Android devices require the installation of a converter. Some rooms have outdated facilities, but this does not affect the overall check-in experience.

🧹 Soundproofing/Hygiene: The hotel excels in soundproofing and hygiene. The rooms have good sound insulation, effectively blocking outside noise and providing a quiet resting environment. Hygiene is strictly controlled, and both the guest rooms and public areas are clean and tidy. The bathrooms have no odor, and the towels and bedding are white and spotless.

💗 Other tips: The hotel is located on the bank of the Yellow River in Chengguan District, a prime location. The Waterwheel Expo Park is right outside the door, perfect for a leisurely stroll. You can also drink tea and throw stones by the Yellow River. The Dunhuang Art Museum is 300 meters away, where you can experience the charm of Dunhuang culture. It takes about an hour to walk around. Next to it on Duzhe Avenue is the Duzhe Museum, full of youthful memories for those born in the 80s and 90s. The hotel breakfast is rich and varied, catering to different tastes. The beef noodles are especially worth a try. I recommend the Er Xi noodles, which are super delicious. Every time you go out or get out of the car, the enthusiastic doormen help you open the door and carry your belongings, providing excellent service. However, there is no supermarket downstairs in the hotel, and the only beef noodle shop nearby closes early. The prices for ordering food at the hotel are high, with a plate of pasta costing CNY 198 and a salad costing CNY 88. Breakfast is open to non-guests, and there are many diners, so you can check with the front desk in advance to avoid peak hours.

This trip to Lanzhou, the Hyatt Regency Lanzhou became the highlight of the trip. Next time I go to Lanzhou, I will definitely choose this hotel again. I recommend everyone to come and experience it when traveling in Lanzhou.
