Lanzhou is best explored on foot, where the Yellow River culture comes alive at every turn. A simple city walk links together bridges, parks, and food streets, blending history with everyday life.
🌉 Zhongshan Bridge (中山桥)
Begin at the “First Bridge over the Yellow River.” Walking across this iron bridge gives you a sense of Lanzhou’s Silk Road past and its riverside charm.
🌊 Waterwheel Park (水车博览园)
Right next to the river lies one of Lanzhou’s most iconic sights – the giant wooden waterwheels once used for irrigation. Today, the park recreates the scene of old Lanzhou, with working wheels, sculptures, and shaded walking paths. It’s the perfect stop to cool down and snap photos of Lanzhou’s link with the Yellow River.
🪷 White Pagoda Hill Park (白塔山公园)
Cross the river and climb up to enjoy fresh air and wide views over the city. The white pagoda stands proudly, framed by the river and skyline.
🍜 Lanzhou Old Streets & Food
End your walk at Zhengning Road Night Market or Lanzhou Old Street. The aroma of beef noodles, lamb skewers, and apricot drinks fills the air – no better way to close the day.
💡 Tips
	•	Best time: late afternoon till evening, when riverside lights turn on.
	•	Wear comfy shoes – there’s a lot of walking!
	•	Bring your camera for river sunset views 🌅.
