Lauterbrunnen is known as one of the most beautiful valleys in Switzerland. It is located near Interlaken and is surrounded by the Alps. It has 72 waterfalls, the most famous of which is the Staubbach Falls. The water falls vertically from the cliff like a ribbon, and it is as beautiful as a fairy tale world.
✨ Must-see highlights
💦 Staubbach Falls
• Switzerland's highest free-fall waterfall, cascading from 300 metres above the ground
• You can walk into the cave behind the waterfall and feel the mist and strong airflow up close
🏞Trümmelbach Falls
• This is the only underground glacial waterfall in Europe, formed by the meltwater from the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains
• There is a cave elevator inside, which allows you to enter the mountain and watch 10 powerful waterfalls passing through the canyon
🚠 Head to Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch
• Take a cable car or mountain train to reach the top of the Alps and enjoy the magnificent snow-capped mountains
• The Schilthorn is famous for being a James Bond movie set and has a 360° revolving restaurant at the top
• Jungfraujoch is the highest railway station in Europe, offering stunning views of the glaciers
💡 Tips for playing
🚆 Transportation: It takes about 20 minutes by train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen Station
🎟 Tickets: The valley itself is free to visit, but you need to buy a ticket for Trimmelbach Falls (about CHF 12)
🌦 Best season: Spring and summer are the best time to visit the waterfall, while autumn and winter are the best time to enjoy the snow and frozen waterfalls
The scenery of Lauterbrunnen is like a real-life version of the elf village in "The Lord of the Rings". Whether it is the waterfalls, canyons or snow-capped mountains, it will make you linger. If you want to experience the most primitive and dreamy side of the Alps, this place is definitely worth a visit!
