Xijiang Thousand-Household Miao Village is located in Leishan County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province. The village consists of 1,468 households and over 6,000 residents, with 99.5% of the indigenous population being Miao people. It is formed by more than ten natural villages built along the mountains, making it the largest Miao ethnic settlement in China and even the world.
Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the village features layered peaks, terraced fields stretching up to the clouds, and the Baishui River running through the village, dividing it into two parts. The stilted wooden houses are built along the mountain slopes, forming a majestic and continuous architectural landscape. The Miao people's farming practices, festivals, silver ornaments, songs, dances, and ancient customs have been passed down through generations here. The village not only preserves its pure natural beauty but also exudes a rich cultural atmosphere. Xijiang Thousand-Household Miao Village showcases the profound cultural heritage accumulated throughout the long history of Miao development, earning titles such as "Open-Air Museum" and "China's Most Beautiful Miao Village." It is an excellent place for studying and exploring Miao culture. In 2011, the Xijiang Thousand-Household Miao Village Scenic Area was rated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
