Sanyuan Pagoda, also known as Qixiu Pagoda, is located in Sanyuan Pagoda Park, No. 4 Qu Street, Leicheng Town, Leizhou City, Guangdong Province. "Yan Pagoda Inscription" is one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Leiyang" and is also a famous brick pagoda in Guangdong Province.
Sanyuan Pagoda was built in the 43rd year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1615 AD) by Ouyang Bao, the magistrate of Leizhou Prefecture. It was originally named "Qixiu". When digging the foundation of the pagoda, three snake eggs were found. So the pagoda was renamed "Sanyuan Pagoda" as a sign of "three firsts in the imperial examinations". The tower has eight goblets and nine levels, and is 57.4 meters high. The inner building has 17 floors, and the eaves are built with corbels. The wall thickness of the bottom floor is 3.48 meters, and the thickness of the top floor is 1.9 meters. The outer corridor is surrounded by railings, and there are arched doors on each floor. The base is inlaid with relief stone carvings of birds and animals with lifelike expressions and vivid expressions, which have been highly praised by poets and writers of all generations.
In December 1979, Sanyuan Pagoda was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province by the People's Government of Guangdong Province.
