The sacred Potala Palace

The Potala Palace, perched on Red Hill in Lhasa, Tibet, is one of the most awe-inspiring architectural wonders in the world. Built in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo and later expanded by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century, this majestic structure served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas for centuries.

We walked up with deep devotion, embracing the spiritual atmosphere. With over 1,000 rooms, countless murals, golden stupas, and Buddhist relics, the palace showcases Tibet’s rich history, culture, and spiritual heritage. Photography is strictly prohibited inside, preserving its sacred ambiance.

At an altitude of 12,100 feet, it is the highest ancient palace in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Potala Palace remains a must-visit destination for travelers seeking breathtaking views and profound cultural experiences.
