Jokhang Temple is the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism and perhaps the most moving place I visited in Tibet. Located in the center of Lhasa, it’s surrounded by Barkhor Street where pilgrims walk clockwise in devotional circuits. The energy here is powerful—people prostrating, chanting, spinning prayer wheels. Inside, the dimly lit chapels are filled with butter lamps and the sacred statue of Jowo Rinpoche, believed to be blessed by the Buddha himself. I was deeply humbled by the intensity of faith on display. Even if you’re not religious, you’ll feel something here. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime cultural experience.
