Qingyuan Jinzishan Travel Tips

• Travel time:

• Try to avoid weekends: The mountain road is narrow and winding, and traffic jams are common. On December 17, we went on a day trip, and there was a serious traffic jam halfway up the mountain, which delayed our return trip. We almost had to spend the night on the highway, and we didn't get home until 3 am on the 18th.

• Transportation to the mountain:

• Don't choose the cable car if there are many people: The queue time is as long as 4 hours, but it only takes 10 minutes to reach the top. The cable car may also be closed due to weather conditions. You can choose to take the wooden plank road up the mountain and then take the slide (CNY 30/person) down the mountain.

• Restroom:

• Don't wait for the restroom next to the visitor center: Many people think that there is only one restroom, so the queue for the women's restroom is very long. In fact, you can walk a few more steps to the restroom in the parking lot, and you don't have to wait long. There are also restrooms on the mountain.

• Rain gear:

• Bring a good quality raincoat: The weather in the mountains is changeable and it rains easily. The wind is strong and umbrellas are not useful. Disposable plastic raincoats are very thin and easy to break, and they are not effective. It is best to bring a good quality raincoat to avoid getting wet and cold.

• Masks:

• Bring two more masks: The humidity is high, and masks get wet easily. Bring two more masks for replacement, otherwise, your face will be uncomfortable in the wind.

• Food:

• Bring dry food and instant noodles, and a thermos if possible: Instant noodles are easy to sell out when there are many people. It is difficult to eat instant noodles to warm up after going down the mountain. Although there are beef noodles opposite the visitor center, there are many people and no seats, so you can only stand and eat, and the taste is average.

• Anti-slip equipment:

• Bring crampons or rent them in advance at the visitor center (rental fee: CNY 15, deposit: CNY 50): The ground and wooden stairs on the slide section of the mountain are easy to freeze and slippery. If you are not prepared in advance, it may be too late to rent them, and it is easy to slip. If you want to reach the top, you must wear crampons.

• Mountain climbing rules:

• When there are many people climbing the mountain, try to walk on the right: There is a narrow road with two stone caves halfway up the mountain, which can only accommodate one person and is the same road for going up and down the mountain. Walking on the right can avoid blocking people and save time going up the mountain. Otherwise, it is easy to get stuck on this road for a long time without knowing the situation ahead, and you may even have to turn back.

Although the process is tortuous, the scenery at the top of the mountain is very good and worth seeing.
