Shanghai Gate’s Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan Province, China

📍Tiger Lake Gorge, Yunnan Province, China / Chama Guesthouse
⏰2017.08

Two days at Tiger Lake Gorge. One of the world's top three trekking courses🌲🌲🌲
A terrifying gorge, said to be the gorge where tigers crossed.
A mountain pass higher than Baekdu Mountain, the route used by the ancient tea horse herdsmen on their 5,000km trek to Tibet.

We were supposed to start from Lijiang, but the buses were out of service due to a landslide in the area.
We rented an expensive taxi and drove for two hours to the entrance, but outside vehicles were prohibited.
We were told to hike for seven hours to the guesthouse or turn back.
We ended up paying a local resident 100,000 won to get a ride.

After a quick look around Tiger Lake Gorge, we arrived at our lodging, Chama Guesthouse.

The collapsed roads were so terrifying that I regretted it about 30 times.
I even gave my bank account password to my younger sibling that day. 🥲🤣🤣
The guesthouse also had a power outage. Since the road was blocked, naturally, my friend and I were the only guests.
Everyone had been trekking from the entrance.
We had already exhausted ourselves just getting here, so we arrived comfortably at our accommodation. We enjoyed the surrounding natural scenery,
and refueled with the must-try black chicken soup at Chamaekgjan.

For a place located in the middle of a mountain, it was clean, and the owner was incredibly friendly. After the sun went down, we lay on the rooftop and enjoyed stargazing.
We went to bed early because we had to trek the next day.
