Taking my parents for a slow trip to Lijiang, Yunnan, we chose to stay at the designer garden homestay, Dust of the Brahman, which offers a full-score experience. If I were to label this full-score experience homestay, it would probably be: Excellent facilities with extreme attention to detail + meticulous and warm service + a friendly yet measured atmosphere
✨Excellent facilities with extreme attention to detail
👍Location: Close to the north gate of the old town, accessible by car with parking available. About three to four hundred meters from the big waterwheel, it's a quiet place amidst the hustle, with supermarkets, fruit shops, and various delicacies along the road.
👍Courtyard: A stylish Chinese courtyard with flowers, a pond, flowing water, swings, wooden chairs, grass huts, and tea tables. Comfortable front desk lobby, gardens on every floor. Staircases with sensor lights, excellent room sound insulation, 15 guest rooms. Enjoy tea in the courtyard corridor or grass hut, swing, relax and be comfortable.
👍Rooms: All solid wood and brand soundproof glass/hardware decoration, Kohler high-end bathroom fixtures, smart home system throughout, bathroom heating system, Mousse high-grade bedding, bath and skincare products of the same brand as some five-star hotels. A significant investment in decoration, with extreme attention to detail, such as the double-layer soundproof glass sliding doors in the bathroom equipped with soundproof strips.
✨Meticulous and warm service
👍Transfer: Arranged pick-up and drop-off, proactive help with luggage at the front desk, warm greetings, with tea, wine, fruit, and fresh flower cakes.
👍Breakfast: A rich variety, if you leave early and miss breakfast, they will proactively deliver a breakfast pack in advance.
👍Hygiene: Daily cleaning and replacement of items, replenishment of drinking water.
✨Bonus points:
♥️You can contact the considerate guys via WeChat for any needs, and they even remember the guests' preferences. For example, if the family loves tea, A'liang at the front desk will proactively ask if you need a few bottles of water? When checking in from Lugu Lake on a hot day, A'bin will turn on the air conditioning in advance.
♥️They provide suggestions on local and surrounding tourism and food. Boss Chun, A'bin, A'liang, and Boss's wife Zhu are all 'know-it-alls' and pay great attention to safety.
✨A friendly yet measured atmosphere
This is a small courtyard with flowers, tea, and wine, where the environment is not deliberately posed for the sake of artistry, nor is the atmosphere overly intimate to break boundaries. The measure is just right:
👍Passing by the front desk, you'll be invited for a cup of tea;
👍During leisurely chats, you'll be invited to try the wine brewed by the boss's friend;
👍Sometimes Boss Chun will bring out barley wine to accompany a drink, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, pressure-free chatting, experiencing the slow life of Lijiang.
