Linglong Pagoda, also known as Hui Pagoda and Wild Goose Pagoda, is located in the east gate of Yuanwu Town, 17 kilometers southwest of Yuanyang County, Henan Province, next to Provincial Highway 310. It is now part of Pingyuan New District, Xinxiang City. It was originally an ancillary building in Shanhu Temple in Yuanwu Town.
Linglong Pagoda has withstood more than 10 earthquakes and was bombarded by Japanese invaders in 1938. In 1983, measurements revealed that the tower tilted 13 degrees and 33 minutes to the northeast. Its rigorous and scientific structure has allowed it to remain standing today despite over 900 years of history, demonstrating the ingenuity of the ancient Han Chinese working people in architectural science and art.
The tower is a pavilion-style brick tower with a rich national architectural style. Its beautiful shape is a delight to the eyes and is a masterpiece of Song Dynasty temples. Climbing the tower, you can gaze at the waves of the Yellow River to the south, the peaks of Taihang Mountains to the north, the vast sea of clouds to the east, and the vast expanse of green to the west. It is truly an interesting and spectacular sight, and is known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa of China.
