Jinci Temple (晋祠) is one of the most famous historical temple complexes in Shanxi Province, located about 25 km southwest of Taiyuan, at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain where the Jinshui River flows.

🕰️ History:

Founded over 1,400 years ago (during the Northern Wei Dynasty, ~7th century)

Greatly expanded in the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties

Originally built in honor of Shu Yu of Tang, an ancestor of the Zhou Dynasty kings
