Xujiashan Village is a model of the stone house architectural complex in the coastal mountains of eastern Zhejiang. When you enter Xujiashan Village, you will see stone walls, stone alleys, stone roads, stone bridges and stone steps. The village is very small and most of the residents are local elderly people. Just walking around will give you a sense of history.

In 2010, it was named one of the fifth batch of "Famous Historical and Cultural Villages of China." Unlike typical water villages, Xujiashan Village's buildings are constructed entirely of the local bronze-colored "tongbanshi." Villagers' homes are constructed of stone and wood, with few reinforced concrete structures. Because of the bronze color of the slate, locals call it "tongbanshi," a premium building material. The village boasts a unique blend of stone houses, alleys, courtyards, walls, bridges, roads, and benches, creating a distinctive world of stone. Xujiashan's existing ancient three- and four-story courtyard buildings are well-preserved, with over 85% retaining their original historical features.
