Lisbon, Portgual: Self guided walking tour of Alfama District

Alfama, Lisbon's oldest district, is a labyrinth of cobblestone streets and red-tiled rooftops.

Here is a short brief of a self-guided walking tour. The key is to embrace getting lost.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol: Arrive early to enjoy the panoramic views of Alfama and the Tagus River before the crowds.
Alfama's Labyrinthine Streets: Here is an opportunity to get lost in Alfama's narrow alleyways. Look out for hidden street art, small shrines, and the iconic Tram 28 (admire it, don't ride it).
Lisbon Cathedral & São Jorge Castle: Do not pay the entrance fees as you can view the exteriors of these major historical landmarks from the outside.
Miradouro da Senhora do Monte: A moderate uphill walk to Lisbon's highest viewpoint for a stunning 360-degree, free panorama of the city.

Walking such a great distance, you will surely work up a big appetite. In the next post, I will share the pastelarias and cafes that we stumbled upon.
