🏰 Meet a peacock in Lisbon's old castle | Half-day tour of São Jorge Castle

#July2025
On my first day in Portugal, I rushed to the Castelo de São Jorge. From its perch, I could gaze down at the sweeping views of Lisbon's red rooftops and the Tagus River. It's not only one of the city's best viewpoints, but also a crucial witness to Lisbon's history.

You can climb the city walls freely, taking in the scenery while imagining what it was like in the Middle Ages. But the most endearing thing is—the peacocks are permanent residents. They stroll freely through the castle, completely unafraid of people, and even stand by the stone walls to admire the view (lol).

I recommend visiting here in the evening. The sunlight falls beautifully on the city walls and the tiles of the old town, creating a picturesque scene. It's also a great place to slowly savor Portugal's history and the rhythm of life. #PortugalTravel #LisbonMust-Visit Spots #Castle of São Jorge #CasteloDeSaoJorge
