Swap the Tube for two feet and follow one of London’s most atmospheric urban trails — from the financial core of the City of London to the cultural pulse of London Waterloo. It’s a riverside journey where every turn reveals layers of history, skyline drama, and a whole lot of character.
🏛 Start at St. Paul’s Cathedral
Begin in the heart of the City, under the grand dome of St. Paul’s. Snap a photo from the steps, then head toward the Millennium Bridge, a modern marvel that connects old London with new.
🌉 Cross Millennium Bridge
As you walk across, feel the Thames breeze and take in stunning views of Tower Bridge in the distance. Below, the river pulses with life. Ahead? Culture central.
🎨 Tate Modern & Shakespeare’s Globe
Once across, turn left and stroll the Southbank riverside path. You’ll pass the towering brick Tate Modern (pop in if time allows!) and the reconstructed Globe Theatre, a must-see for lovers of Shakespeare and charming courtyards.
🍽 Grab a Bite at Borough Market
Follow the aromas toward Borough Market, one of London’s oldest and most beloved food hubs. Try street food classics like halloumi wraps, fresh oysters, or global pastries. Perfect fuel for more walking.
🌉 Pass under London Bridge & along Southwark
Keep walking west along the river through Southwark’s artsy, historic corners — don’t miss the Golden Hinde ship replica or glimpses of The Shard peeking above rooftops.
🎭 End at Waterloo & Southbank Centre
Finish at Waterloo Station, but don’t rush off. Pause at the Southbank Centre, maybe catch a street performance, or just watch the sunset from the riverside steps. It’s the perfect London moment to wrap the journey.
