Laojun Mountain Special Forces 1-Day Tour Guide

Join a one-day tour group to save time and effort. The group fee is just over 200 yuan, including round-trip transportation from Luoyang city, Laojun Mountain entrance ticket, and first-level cable car fee, which is very cost-effective. There are usually 4 departures, from 7 AM to 10 AM, leaving on the hour. If you want to avoid crowds, choose the 7 AM departure; if you want to see the highlights of the Golden Summit, choose the 9 AM or 10 AM departures.

After getting off the first-level cable car, you can choose to hike or take the second-level cable car. If you have good stamina, hiking is a great choice so you won’t miss the beautiful scenery of the Ten-Mile Painted Screen. From October to November, the mountains are covered with red leaves, creating a colorful world that is stunningly beautiful. If you walk fast, it takes about 1 hour.

If you have the energy, you can climb Funiu Peak, which takes about 20 minutes round trip. It is the highest point of Laojun Mountain and offers great views of the Golden Summit Taoist temple group.

The Golden Summit Taoist temple group is very crowded. If you’re not obsessed, you can just visit 1 or 2 of them; otherwise, you might end up waiting in line so long you start doubting life.

After seeing the Golden Summit, you can head down the mountain. I chose to take the second-level cable car down, which costs 40 yuan per person. This option is economical, saves energy, and doesn’t miss the beautiful scenery of the Ten-Mile Painted Screen.

I took the bus from the train station at 7 AM, got on the highway at 8:20 AM, took the first-level cable car at 10:30 AM, and was down the mountain by 3 PM. The whole trip took less than 5 hours.
