Hailuogou: the only Glacier Forest in China!

National AAAAA Tourist Attraction
3600m asl (No.4 Campsite), situated in Luding County, 290km from Chengdu and 49 to Kangding City.
Covering 350 hectares at the east slope of Mount Gongga (7556m highest mountain in Sichuan Province).
In one area you can find: glacier icefall drifting vertically, multilayered primitive forest of diverse verdant trees, gorgeous snow mountain peaks, hot springs, red rocks, alpine lakes, sea of clouds, rare animals.
It has a quite large altitude difference of over 6000m and it holds 70 hectare of wild forest, 7 vegetation zones and 7 soil zones…it is said that is unique in the world!
… and with more than 4880 plant species from subtropical to frigid zones.
How to visit? The closest place to stay is Moxi Ancient Town, where the Tourist Center is also located. Many hotels and restaurants available.
I spent 2 full days visiting the Glacier Park and was just enough. The place is huge and there are shuttle busses between campsites (there are 4 campsites + cableway)…I suggest to the take the bus only on the way up, than hike down hill, in this way you can admire the nature and avoid the tourists!
