If you only have one day to experience the history of Luoyang, you can't miss these three museums!
✅Route: Luoyang Ancient Tombs Museum → Luoyang Museum → Sui-Tang Grand Canal Museum
👉🏻Transportation: If you are staying in the city center, we recommend taking a taxi for the whole trip, which is efficient and convenient.
🏛️Luoyang Ancient Tombs Museum
📍Address: No. 6, Jichang Road, Old Town District, Luoyang
This is the most unique museum I have ever seen! You can walk directly into the underground tombs and feel the weight of history up close. It is also the site of the Jingling Mausoleum of Emperor Xuanwu of the Northern Wei Dynasty, and is divided into three exhibition areas: typical tombs of past dynasties, imperial tombs of the Northern Wei Dynasty, and a mural gallery. First, see the typical tombs and murals of past dynasties indoors, and then visit the Jingling Mausoleum outdoors. The 25 relocated and restored tombs from the Western Han to the Song and Jin dynasties will give you a real understanding of the ancient people's view of death.
🏛️Luoyang Museum
📍Address: Wenbo Road, Luolong District, Luoyang
There are six basic exhibitions in the museum, and the "Heluo Civilization" and "Treasures Exhibition" are must-sees. The "Heluo Civilization" exhibition is divided into five parts and tells the story of the glory of Luoyang, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, with a rich collection of exhibits. The "Treasures Exhibition" is a collection of the museum's finest pieces, offering a feast for the eyes.
🚇Transportation: Take bus No. 1 or 77; take subway line 2 to "Wenboyuan" station, exit A, and walk 500 meters.
🏛️Sui-Tang Grand Canal Museum
📍Address: Binhe North Road, Old Town District, Luoyang
The Sui-Tang Grand Canal was built in the Sui Dynasty, connecting the north and south with Luoyang as the center. The first and second floors are the permanent exhibition "The Grand Canal of the Sui and Tang Dynasties," which provides an in-depth understanding of canal culture. The interactive exhibition "The Journey of a Grain of Rice" on the third floor is super interesting, so don't miss it!
Follow this route from morning to night and immerse yourself in the historical charm of Luoyang in one day! Save this post and get ready for a museum trip!
