Youth knows no price tag – conquered little Mount Wugong with ease!
『June-August is truly the most beautiful time at Mount Wugong when the alpine meadows turn completely green! Though I missed the sea of clouds, the sunset and sunrise views were absolutely breathtaking.
Here's a summarized route and guide to share with everyone – bookmark it for future reference!
✔️Routes:
1️⃣Round-trip scenic route:
Pingxiang Station → Mount Wugong Gate → Zhong'an Cable Car up → Zijigong → Hero's Slope → Diaomazhuang → Wanbaogui → Mount Wugong Summit → Jinding Cable Car down → Fuxing Rock → Zhong'an Cable Car down → Mount Wugong Gate → Station
✨This is the most time-efficient route, taking about 6 hours total. For night hikers, the entire journey can be completed by noon. Perfect for beginners, families with elderly/children – consider taking both Zhong'an and Jinding cable cars.
2️⃣Scenic route up → Longshan Village down (my route):
Pingxiang Station → Mount Wugong Gate → Zhong'an Cable Car up → Zijigong → Hero's Slope → Diaomazhuang → Wanbaogui → Mount Wugong Summit → Guanyindang → Despair Slope → Fengzigang → Hero's Slope → Thousand-Zhang Cliff → Fayunjie → Longshan Village exit
✨This two-day-one-night route involves watching sunset at the summit on Day 1, starting at 6am after sunrise on Day 2 to reach Longshan Village by ~5pm. Challenging with slippery/steep sections – recommended for experienced hikers.
🌟Must-see spots:
Summit sunrise/sunset, Meadow Boat, Glass Skywalk, Jiulong Mountain, Despair Slope, Fayunjie
🚘Transport:
Take high-speed rail to Pingxiang/Pingxiang North Station → scenic area shuttle (¥27) right outside station → transfer to Mount Wugong Gate
🎽Essentials:
🔸Clothing:
Windbreaker, fleece (overnight must), sun-protective clothing, arm sleeves, sun hat, headlamp (night hiking)
🔸Supplies:
1. Water (less needed for scenic route – free hot water available, bring cup + sports drinks; Longshan route has expensive supply points ~¥10/bottle)
2. Energy gels, salt tablets, chocolate (quick energy boost, potentially lifesaving)
3. Instant noodles, bread, jerky, snacks
🧩Other:
Hiking poles, raincoat, power bank, charger, tissues
✨Accommodation:
3 options at summit: Baihefeng, Jindingnan, Yunzhihai (cheapest tent ¥120). I stayed free at Jinding Refuge. Mid-route options: Guanyindang, Wufa Inn, Yunzhong Inn (¥120-180/person)
💭Weather:
Unpredictable – don't rely solely on forecasts. Prepare for both rain and sun. Sea of clouds depends on luck.
