Macau Taipa is definitely for hotel aesthetics lovers

Macau Taipa is like the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show of the hotel world, with every hotel competing to be more extravagant and luxurious. When you arrive here, you'll wonder if you've accidentally stepped into a wealthy person's dream.

First, you must check in at The Venetian, which has brought the entire Venice here—canals, gondolas, and even the sky is a fake blue with white clouds. It's best to come in the morning because the crowds in the afternoon will make you question your life choices. Don't forget to visit the Grand Canal Shoppes; although you might not be able to afford anything inside, window shopping is also a kind of enjoyment.

Next is The Parisian, where the scaled-down Eiffel Tower is a selfie paradise. When the lights come on at night, it's so romantic you'll forget you're actually taking photos in front of a replica in Macau. The observation deck on the 37th floor of the tower is worth visiting; although it costs money, the night view overlooking Taipa is definitely worth the ticket price.

Wynn Palace is another symbol of extravagance. The fountain show at the entrance happens every 20 minutes, accompanied by music, like a free version of the House of Dancing Water. The most impressive feature is their cable car, which is free to ride and offers a bird’s-eye view of the entire fountain show. It's recommended to come at night when the lighting effects are even more stunning.

If you love art, Morpheus will definitely amaze you. This hotel looks like an alien spaceship and was designed by the late architectural master Zaha Hadid. The hollow design in the lobby is a popular backdrop for social media photos. Their afternoon tea is also very popular, but remember to book in advance, or you'll just watch others enjoy it.

As for food, Taipa is definitely not inferior to the main island. Rua do Cunha is a foodie paradise. We recommend Mo Yi Kee’s durian ice cream, which is so rich that the people at the next table will glare at you. Also, Andrew’s Bakery’s Portuguese egg tarts, with hot crispy crusts and eggy aroma, will make you want to sing after eating. If your budget allows, try the Michelin restaurants at Wynn Palace. Although they are expensive enough to make you consider selling a kidney, occasionally living like a tycoon is not bad.

Finally, a reminder: Taipa hotels are very good at taking your money, so check your wallet thickness before going in. But even if your budget is limited, just admiring the architecture and free shows here is worth it. After all, in Taipa, just looking at the hotel exteriors can be worth the airfare!
