
The Yellow River Ancient Ferry, located on the east bank of the Yellow River over 30 miles east of Yinchuan City, is a fascinating place filled with the surging Yellow River, the majestic ancient Great Wall, vast sand dunes, beautiful countryside, the world-renowned Shuidonggou Paleolithic Cultural Site, the developed Jinshui Tourist Resort, and the Xixia Film and Television City. Today, a Yellow River Bridge spans the ferry's banks, and adjacent to Ningxia's largest Hedong Airport, it's a prime destination for sightseeing.
The four seasons are distinct, with late spring and short summer, early autumn and long winter, large temperature difference between day and night, sparse rain and snow, strong evaporation, dry climate, strong winds and abundant sand.
With an average annual temperature of around 8.5°C and an average annual sunshine duration of 2,800 to 3,000 hours, it is one of the regions with the highest solar radiation and sunshine duration in China. The average annual precipitation is around 200 mm, and the frost-free period is approximately 185 days.

In Shanxi Province on the north bank of the Yellow River, there are three famous ferry crossings, Fengling Ferry, Dayu Ferry and Maojin Ferry, from upstream to downstream.
