What are some must-see museums in Macau? MGM is a surprise!

Originally, I thought that in land-scarce Macau, the most luxurious places would be inside the resorts, but I didn’t expect the Poly MGM Museum to be so stunning. The interior decoration is luxurious, and the exhibition quality is top-notch, instantly elevating the artistic standard of the entire Macau.

In this museum, you don’t have to worry about lighting at all because its glass is anti-reflective, and the light sources are hidden. The display cases, artifacts, holographic projections, and murals all share the same color theme, so no matter what angle you photograph the artifacts or the exhibition hall, you’ll only feel one word—harmony. This is exactly how a wealthy museum should be.

Of course, the MGM Museum is not just about appearances; its exhibitions are highly valuable. Unlike other museums that typically follow a timeline showcasing the rise, development, prosperity, and decline of a historical event, Macau, as an important node on the Maritime Silk Road, presents the Silk Road-themed exhibition with four thematic spaces: "Monsoon," "Cultural Context," "Interweaving," and "Connection." It demonstrates from a maritime perspective how the Maritime Silk Road linked East-West trade, and how each artifact bears the imprint of maritime civilization. The monsoon guides sailors to set sail, shipwrecks on the seabed tell stories of past prosperous cultures, envoys and goods weave a vast trade network, and the connection between humans and the ocean continues endlessly.
