Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region)
A meticulously designed building aimed at fulfilling its primary hospital functions while maintaining aesthetic appeal and staying within budget.
This unique site was commissioned by Mrs. Dolores Romero Arano, the widow and heir of one of the founders of the Bank of Spain. Completed in 1916, it showcases the distinctive features of Antonio Palacios' architecture, such as the use of limestone or ceramic coatings. The building has an octagonal cross-shaped layout, adhering to the typical circular prison model that allows the entire complex to be observed from a single vantage point.
