Discovering the Beauty of Velavaru Island in the Maldives

The water villa restaurant at Velaa Private Island Maldives offers a unique dining experience compared to the beach villa restaurant. While the beach villa provides buffet-style meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the water villa only offers a buffet for breakfast, with lunch and dinner being à la carte. Each dish is meticulously prepared. Note that there is a Chinese menu available, but only one iPad in the restaurant displays the menu in Chinese. Service can be slow, with meals typically taking at least an hour, so it's advisable to arrive early.
The water villa restaurant is known for its superior taste compared to the beach villa, but the portions are smaller. If you plan to engage in energy-consuming activities like fishing or swimming, the meal portions might not suffice. Even with an all-inclusive package, the water villa meals are limited, meaning you can't repeatedly order the same dish. For appetizers, soups, and salads, each person can only choose one from these categories. Similarly, each person is allowed one main course and one dessert. This means a couple can sample six dishes in total for lunch or dinner. If you find a particular main course or dessert exceptionally delicious and want more, you'll need to pay extra.
The menu at the water villa restaurant doesn't change frequently, possibly updating every few months. Highly recommended is the fried seafood appetizer, reminiscent of tempura, which was so delicious it was ordered twice. The seafood skewers are also noteworthy for their tenderness and freshness. For those with a heavier palate, pasta or meat rolls are filling options. Desserts like ice cream and fruit are average, but the coconut and orange ice slushes are worth trying for their smooth texture.
Breakfast at the water villa is similar to the beach villa with a buffet style, and you can order freshly made omelets. However, the drinks at the water villa bar don't match the quality of those at the beach villa bar, often served in the same glass without much care. If you enjoy drinks, you might consider taking a boat to the beach villa bar, which runs every hour, or settle for the water villa bar if convenience is a priority.
