The "Thousand Year Cherry Tree" is a designated natural monument of Okayama Prefecture! ︎
The tree is 18m tall and is a type of Higanzakura.
According to legend, Emperor Go-Daigo saw and admired this cherry tree when he was exiled to Oki in 1332, and so it was named after him. .
A second Daigozakura tree is also planted on the same premises.
During the flowering season, there is heavy traffic even on weekdays. It is not uncommon to wait 3 hours in your car to get to the nearest parking lot...
If you are physically fit, you can park at the foot of the mountain and walk up the slope for an hour. The power of the Daigozakura tree that you finally come across is overwhelming! #Okayama #Daigozakura #OkayamaTrip
