The "Hobbiton Movie Set" or "Hobbit Village" is located in Matamata, New Zealand. Fans of The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit fans must not miss this! If you have the chance to visit New Zealand, you must visit this place.
⛺️🏕 This is the Hobbit village where The Lord of the Rings was filmed. Every corner is so adorable. The guide said that some of the big trees are fake, but most of the interior is fake, but you can hardly tell. It's like stepping into the movie. There's the brightly colored hobbit house, which even a small person like me could actually live in! 😆 There's a small flower garden, or at the Green Dragon Inn, you can enjoy a drink just like in the movie, as they offer a free glass of delicious ginger beer per person.
🚘 Getting there is easy. It's about a two-hour drive from Auckland, or just an hour from Rotorua. You can book a tour in advance. We used a tour service. We booked online, informed them of the pick-up point at the appointed time, and a van came to pick us up and arranged our entrance tickets. We just picked up our tickets and waited to board the tour bus. On the return trip, we took the same van back. There's also a souvenir shop at the ticket office. However, self-guided tours are not allowed. You must purchase an entrance ticket and accompany a guide. The bus ride will take you to views of lush green hills and adorable sheep.
⏱️ The tour lasts about two hours, with a guide who will share behind-the-scenes stories. It's both educational and offers plenty of beautiful photo opportunities.
📢Hobbiton is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (hours may vary depending on the season). 💚✨
