Tengyue Cultural Square is a landmark building in Tengchong City and an important venue for mass cultural and sports activities. It is divided into several parts: the green square, the Gaoligong Mountain Mother Sculpture, the Tengyue Third Bridge, the library, the museum, the cultural center, and the stadium.
Three garden-style stone arch bridges span the Tengyue River. Their piers, arches, and decks are all inlaid with volcanic stone and surmounted by Hanyu jade slab railings. The central bridge is called "Tianhe Bridge." "Tianhe" (meaning "Tianhe"), meaning favorable weather, favorable location, and harmonious people, embodies the harmony of nature and peace. Also known as the Milky Way, it symbolizes the connection between heaven and earth. The adjacent secondary bridges are called "Tingyun Bridge" and "Yongshun Bridge." "Tingyun" (meaning "still clouds and setting moon") symbolizes longing for friendship with family and friends; "Yongshun" (meaning "eternal" or "permanent"), conveys harmony, success, and favorable weather. Like a "rainbow lying on the waves," the three Tengyue bridges connect the east and west sections of the square into a seamless whole.
The Gaoligong Mountain Mother Sculpture, consisting of a portrait of the mother and six reliefs scattered across the mountain, vividly depicts the illustrious historical events and heroic figures of this land throughout history. These figures have been forever absorbed into the broad bosom of Gaoligong Mountain Mother, coexisting with the mountains and rivers and radiating with the sun and moon.
The tropical monsoon climate combines the advantages of continental and maritime climates. Winter and spring are sunny and warm, while summer and autumn have a mix of sunny and rainy weather and are cool and pleasant. All four seasons are suitable for travel.
The towering, wrought-bronze sculpture of the Mother of Gaoligong Mountain epitomizes the architectural theme and cultural quality of Tengyue Cultural Square. The Gaoligong Mountains, a mountain range stretching hundreds of miles from the vast Kunlun Mountains, descend southward along the western edge of Yunnan Province from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, stand majestically and magnificently like a colossal barrier in the eastern and northern parts of Tengchong County. They are renowned as a sanctuary for rare animals, a natural botanical garden, and a gene bank for species.
The Tengyue River East Bank Square is the core area of Tengyue Cultural Square, consisting of a musical fountain, cultural center, museum, library, youth science and technology activity center, and track and field stadium.
The cultural center, museum, and library are relatively independent, each occupying 15 mu (approximately 16 acres) for a total floor area of over 10,000 square meters. The cultural center and museum are arranged in a quadrangle courtyard style, with a courtyard adding aesthetic appeal and providing an ideal venue for public gatherings. The three halls, with their gray tiles and white walls, are both elegant and practical in style.
