Shimane Art Museum

Located at Lake Shinjimisaki in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, this museum has the themes of "an art museum in harmony with water" and "an art museum enveloped in the sunset."

The building has a wavy curve and a beautiful lake spreads out before you.
It is inspired by the "beach" that connects the water surface and the land.
The designer, Kikutake Kiyonori, has worked on the architecture of many art galleries and museums.

🔹Permanent Exhibition
Shimane Art Museum has a collection of about 3,000 ukiyo-e prints.
From the Katsushika Hokusai Collection, which has about 1,600 pieces, about 40 pieces of Hokusai's prints and original paintings are on display (all pieces are replaced approximately once a month).
