If you ever have the chance to visit Nagano or pass through Matsumoto, "Matsumoto Castle" is an absolute must-see! This castle is renowned as one of the most beautiful "original castles" in Japan and is also a national treasure. The castle is black in color, earning it the nickname "Crow Castle" due to its dark and majestic appearance, which is incredibly charming.
Walking inside the castle feels like stepping back in time. You’ll need to take off your shoes and climb steep wooden stairs to explore each floor. Inside, there are displays of ancient artifacts, weapons, and swords. The view from the top is breathtaking, offering a panoramic sight of the city and the surrounding mountains.
The atmosphere around the castle is equally delightful, with gardens and small ponds perfect for a leisurely stroll.
💗Small tips before visiting:
The castle is open from around 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (don’t come too late or you might miss the chance to go inside).
If you’re carrying a large bag, there are lockers available for storage before you enter.
