Matsumoto Castle and Soba: Savoring the Essence of Shinshu Time

A day spent visiting Nagano's Matsumoto.
The first destination was the National Treasure, Matsumoto Castle. The contrast of its black exterior walls and white plaster stood out beautifully against the blue sky, and its reflection on the water was equally stunning. Amidst the serene atmosphere, one could feel the weight of history.

After exploring the castle, I headed to a long-established soba restaurant near the station, Sobakiri Miyota. I enjoyed the fragrant Shinshu soba with chilled dipping sauce, complemented by the refreshing spiciness of wasabi. It was a moment of calm unique to traveling, savoring the local flavors.

Both Matsumoto Castle and soba are iconic symbols of this city. By leisurely experiencing its history and cuisine, I was able to rediscover the charm of Matsumoto.
