This Zen temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect, representing Matsushima, one of Japan's Three Most Scenic Views, is also known as the family temple of Date Masamune. Its majestic space blends the beauty of history and nature, with its Momoyama-style main hall, approach surrounded by cedar trees, and moss-covered caverns. Following major restorations in 2018, the temple once again shines with its former glory.
