As this is the terminus of the Botchan train that rattles through Matsuyama city, you can see it change direction at the back of the disembarkation area.
The retro station building is a restoration of the old station building built in 1911, and has a beautiful western-style Meiji era exterior, which is lit up at night. In front of the station are the Hojoen Garden (Botchan Karakuri Clock and Footbath *see photo 6), the tourist information center, and the entrance to Dogo Shopping Street.
