The Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall is the largest dedicated to a historical figure in Jiangxi Province. Located east of Ji'an County, at the intersection of National Highway 105 and Jijing Road, it is conveniently located just 12 kilometers from Ji'an Station on the Beijing-Kowloon Railway and over 20 kilometers from both Jinggangshan Station and Jinggangshan Airport. Built in 1984, the memorial officially opened to the public on January 9, 1992, the 709th anniversary of Wen Tianxiang's execution.
The Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall covers an area of 8 hectares. The main building is a cluster of symmetrical, ancient-style buildings. The hall features five exhibition rooms and a 120-meter exhibition area, divided into six sections. Through documents, artifacts, charts, sculptures, inscriptions, and restored scenes, the hall comprehensively presents the life and achievements of the national hero, Wen Tianxiang.
The Tianxiang Memorial Hall, a collection of imitation Song Dynasty architecture, majestically straddles a hillside lush with pine and bamboo trees, facing the Jianchang-Gan Highway. Its architectural style is remarkably refined and imposing. Entering through a tall, exquisite memorial archway, crossing the Jian'an Bridge, and ascending 47 stone steps, one arrives at the majestic Wenxin Hall. This two-story hall features red pillars, yellow tiles, and overhanging eaves. A statue of Wen Tianxiang stands in the center of the ground floor.
The subtropical humid monsoon climate is characterized by mild winters and hot summers, with four distinct seasons. The Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall is surrounded by evergreen pines and cypresses, making it a suitable destination for travel in all seasons.
The Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall is divided into two sections: a sightseeing area and an exhibition area on Wen Tianxiang's life. The hall features a symmetrical, palatial layout, rising gradually from south to north to create a complex of ancient buildings. The main structure, Zhengqi Hall, faces south, imposing itself with its red walls and yellow tiles. Surrounded by lush greenery, blooming flowers, and rippling clear water, the scenery changes with every step. From the mountain gate, one passes through Lin'an Bridge and 99 steps to enter the Wen Tianxiang Life Exhibition Area. The exhibition area, comprising Zhengqi Hall, the West Wing, the West Veranda, the Poetry Screen, the East Veranda, and the East Wing, connects to form a quadrangle. Divided into five exhibition halls and six sections, the exhibition showcases Wen Tianxiang's glorious life through immersive displays of cultural relics, documents, images, paintings, sculptures, inscriptions, and wax figures.
The memorial, situated north and south, nestled into the mountainside, embodies the architectural style of a traditional Chinese palace. It comprises a symmetrical, arched-around complex of ancient buildings, including a mountain gate, a stone arch bridge, stone steps, a platform, a main hall, side rooms, a former residence, an audio-visual education hall, a VIP lounge, and an inner garden. The entire memorial and park encompass 480 mu (approximately 1,000 acres). The memorial showcases Wen Tianxiang's life, deeds, relics, manuscripts, writings, and inscriptions, offering a truly moving and enduring tribute to his national integrity and patriotism.
It is recommended to play for about 2 hours.
