what a memorable time

A Dreamy Escape to Mauritius

From the moment my plane began its descent, I knew Mauritius would be unlike any place I had visited. Through the window, I could see turquoise waters wrapping around lush green mountains — a postcard come to life.

I stayed in a small beach resort near Flic en Flac on the west coast. The air was warm and sweet, with a hint of sea breeze and frangipani flowers. My mornings began with fresh tropical fruits and strong Mauritian coffee, followed by long walks along the quiet white-sand beaches. The sunsets there weren’t just beautiful — they were spiritual. Every evening, the sky would turn into a painting of orange, pink, and gold.

One of the most unforgettable parts of the trip was hiking in the Black River Gorges National Park. The path wound through dense rainforest, echoing with the sounds of tropical birds and the occasional rustle of monkeys. At the top, I stood speechless, looking out over endless valleys, waterfalls, and the far-off shimmer of the ocean.

I also took a boat trip to Île aux Cerfs, a tiny island known for its clear lagoons. We snorkeled among coral reefs, surrounded by bright fish. At lunch, we feasted on grilled seafood and freshly made dholl puri while our boat captain played sega music on a small drum, singing in Creole.

What struck me most was the warmth of the people — a beautiful mix of Indian, African, French, and Chinese heritage, living together in harmony. Every interaction, whether in the local markets or roadside cafés, came with a smile and a story.

#mauritius isn’t just a destination — it’s a feeling. A place where time slows, where nature and culture dance together, and where you leave a little piece of your heart behind when you go.
