Rhumerie de Saint Aubin - Interesting visit, even if you are not interested in the Rhum

It is one of the best known of the many rum distilleries in Mauritius. I found the stop interesting, but not so much for the visit of the manor house (which was under renovation) or for the brief explanation on how the “agricultural” rum is produced (directly from the cane and not from molasses) or for the tastings you can do of the different liqueurs produced. The most interesting data subject was a visit to the Maison de la Vanille, with a brief explanation of vanilla production and, above all, the adjacent greenhouses, where you can see the plants with the pods. That's how I discovered vanilla is an orchid!
Brilliant tours and very interesting. Didn’t know there was a vanilla house too. Cocktails were great served by the lovely Ashwini. Also a petting zoo
