This is a little island which covers just over 6 acres off the Bay of Grand Port. You can reach it via a speedboat excursion from the south east of the island. It was discovered by the Dutch in 1598 and it is about 8 kms from Mahebourg.
The island contains a historical monument, a lighthouse built in 1864 with a unique stone spiral staircase. The lighthouse is dilapidated but there are plans for some restoration work.
Stunning nature around the island plus and old historic lighthouse is there! There were some endemic lizards that live only on the island therefore be careful when you walk around!
