The most famous attraction in Malacca is probably the Stadthuys in the center of the old city. It was built by the Dutch in 1650 and was originally the official residence and office of the Dutch Governor. Famous for its red exterior and nearby red clock tower, the Stadthuys is considered the oldest surviving Dutch historical building in Southeast Asia and has now been revitalized into several museums in Malacca.
