🟥 The start of your Melaka trip: Dutch Square

When it comes to Melaka's iconic landmarks, Dutch Square is undoubtedly the first to come to mind. Located in the heart of the city, this square is also known as "Red Square" for its distinctive red buildings. Upon first encountering it, its unique, fairytale-like atmosphere captivated me.

🏛️ The Charm of Red Buildings

This square is a well-preserved example of 17th-century Dutch colonial architecture. Christ Church, the Stadthuys, and even the clock tower are all painted red, creating a striking contrast against the blue sky and making for a stunning photo backdrop.

🚴 Trishaw Experience

Lined up in front of the square are ornately decorated trishaws (three-wheeled bicycle taxis). Riding one of these trishaws, decorated with colorful artificial flowers, LED lights, and popular cartoon characters, around the streets of Melaka was a fun experience. The drivers even played lively music, creating a feeling of a small festival.

During the day, the square is bustling with tourists, but the sunlight on the red buildings creates a truly picturesque scene. In the evening, the lights come on, revealing a different charm. A small fountain and benches in the center of the square make it a great place to relax.
