❤Menglian Xuanfu Department is an important historical building in Nayun Ancient Town, Menglian Dai, Lahu and Wa Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province.
Menglian Xuanfu Department was built in the 4th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1406), and was originally the yamen of the Dai Dao Tusi. In the 48th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1709), the Dao Tusi was granted the hereditary title of "Menglian Jingzhi Xuanfu Department", so the chief yamen was renamed Xuanfu Department. In the late Qing Dynasty, the yamen was burned down by fire, and was rebuilt in the 5th year of Guangxu (1879).
❤The building complex of Menglian Xuanfu Department is well preserved, integrating the architectural features of the Dai and Han nationalities, covering an area of about 12,484 square meters. Its main buildings include the gate tower, conference hall, main hall, east and west wing rooms, granary, kitchen, etc.
❤Menglian Xuanfu Department is not only a building complex, but also a symbol of the Dai Tusi system. From the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China, a total of 28 generations of Dai Tusi exercised their ruling power here. The Tusi official uniforms, brocade belts, flags, documents, maps, instruments, weapons, torture instruments, sacrificial vessels and daily necessities preserved in the department are precious materials for studying the Tusi system in the ethnic minority areas of southwest China. It has high historical and architectural value. This is a must-see attraction when visiting Menglian.
❤Free admission.
